Samdech Techo Hun Sen Commemorates the Tragic Memories of June 20, 1977

Phnom Penh: In a heartfelt remembrance, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the founder of Peace in Cambodia, recalled the tragic events of June 20, 1977, that transpired 47 years ago. Reflecting on those memories, Samdech Techo expressed, "Even though 47 years have passed, when I remember the story of June 20, 1977, my tears always shed. It’s really sad and painful to find words to say."

Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasized the profound significance of that era, explaining that life itself was the capital to liberate the nation and save the people from the genocidal regime of Pol Pot. He pondered the possible consequences had he died during that turbulent period, thinking, "If I had died then, what would have happened in these past 45 years?"

Highlighting the ultimate sacrifice made, Samdech Techo stated, "Take life for the survival of the people. Give your life in exchange for peace for the people through win-win politics."

He also stressed the importance of the transfer of power for peace and sustainable development, advocating for the transition of leadership from the older generation to the new. Samdech Techo concluded by reminding everyone that no success or result is achieved without payment or sacrifice.
